Professional Development

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21

I set the following goals for myself while finishing my sophomore year, and while I’ve worked to meet them over the last several years, I will continue to create new goals and grow as an educator throughout the entirety of my career.

Seek out opportunities where I can foster my skills as an educator.

Taking what I’ve learned in class and putting it to use elsewhere will help me better develop my skills and prepare me for when I have my own classroom.

I have worked with school-age kids (K-5) at a local daycare for two years now, and I have been able to grow my classroom management and disciplinary skills, among others, in this time.

Expose myself to more diverse groups of people.

Doing this will help prepare me for various demographics I may face in my own classroom.

I have volunteered on countless servant events through my home church, completed field experience at a women and children’s homeless shelter close to downtown Lincoln, NE, and observed at Goodrich Middle School in Lincoln, NE to gain first-hand experience with diverse cultures.

Keep Christ at the center of all I do – in and out of the classroom.

As I prepare to become a teacher in a Lutheran school, I find it important to have a strong relationship with God so I can be a spiritual role model for my students.

I have taken steps over the last several years to grow in my relationship with God, including personal devotion time, studying theology, and partaking in discussions with peers.
