This is a nice, short video that explains the difference between scientific laws and scientific theories. It does well at not working from the framework that laws are theories that have been proven, but rather laws are the simple, observable patterns, and theories are models based on these laws.

This article is an explanation of the difference between scientific theory and scientific law. It’s simple definition is “a scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world. A scientific law is simply an observation of the phenomenon that the theory attempts to explain.”

This article also defines and shows the difference between scientific laws and scientific theories. It states: “In simplest terms, a law predicts what happens while a theory proposes why. This article is a summary of the document written on the relationship between science and religion by the LCMS Commission on Theology and Church Relations. The report reflects on the relationship between science religion, using Colossians 1:16-17 as a foundation which says, “For by him [Christ] all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible … all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
