Professional Development and Goals

  1.  In my remaining time in college I will develop knowledge of inclusive teaching techniques so that all students, regardless of mental ability, will be able to learn effectively alongside their peers.
    1. Students learn so much from their interaction with their peers. Inclusive education creates opportunities for students to learn in a larger variety of ways.
    2. Taking classes such as Education 424, Education 316, and Education 317, and focusing on learning to incorporate topics discussed in these classes into an inclusive classroom.
  2. Another goal I have for myself in my remaining time in college is to better understand the bible and the christian faith so that I may better share that faith with others.
    1. Christ will be the center of my future classroom. To be able to properly teach the word of God to my students I must first understand the saving message of Christ myself, and have a strong faith life.
    2. I will farther develop my faith by continuing to attend church and chapel as well as taking doctrine and theology classes. I will also spend time everyday reading and meditating on God’s word.
  3. My third goal is to develop positive classroom management skills.
    1. One of the most important parts of being a teacher is the ability to properly mange a classroom. A classroom that is constantly in chaos is a classroom where not much learning occurs.
      1. I will reach this goal by continuing classes in the education program. I will also reach this goal by spending many more hours in field experience learning from teachers who have had years of practice managing classrooms.
