Though my degree will not be in church music, I do have experience leading worship. At Concordia, I was involved in a Praise band for 2 years. I sang, and sometimes played guitar. We would lead worship at Chapel and at a student-led worship night monthly. From this experience, I gained knowledge about music leading and I grew in my faith once again through music.
During the summers of 2018 and 2019, my pastor gave me the opportunity to lead worship services at church. I played guitar and sang, sometimes with my mom on the piano. This summer I really learned what it meant to lead a church service in music. It is a big responsibility and also a time for growth and development. It was an incredible experience and I am looking forward to see how God will use me through this in the upcoming years.
Most recently, I have had the honor of leading worship services at my school’s new church, NewThing. I have been playing guitar and piano, and leading services with my voice as well. It has been a great experience in music leadership in a new and exciting way.
