I have teacher aided in the Special Education classroom at Seward High School, and volunteered at Camp Luther in Schuyler, Nebraska, working with adults with disabilities, both in Fall 2012.

Through these experiences I learned that people with diabilities are just like us. They have wants and hopes and favorite things to do. My buddy Annette enjoyed walking around outside. Also just like us, their feelings are hurt when people make fun of them. I will never talk down to someone with disabilities or see them as less of a person, but treat them as an equal, and I will teach my students to do the same.
