Below are the four links that relate to Unit 3 of our class (Kinetic Theory, Gas Laws, Phases of Matter):

This is an excellent educational video on the states of matter and how they are different from one another. The video provides a structured explanation on each of the three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gas. Additionally, the video provides detailed information on the kinetic theory, vaporization, and the melting and boiling points of different substances. Awesome video!

This is an animated video that explains the kinetic molecular theory in a fun way. This theory says that matter is made up of atoms and molecules that are always moving. The video explains how temperature effects the energy of particles and how this impacts the speed of which it moves. Additionally, it provides a great illustration of how the movement of particles in gases, liquids, and solids are different from each other. Enjoy!

This article talks about atomic theory and is broken down into five sections: Greek Origins, Modern Development, Subatomic Structure, Bohr and Beyond, and Protons and Neutrons. One interesting thing I learned from this article is that it wasn’t until the very end of the 19th century that technology became advanced enough to allow scientists a glimpse of the atom’s constituent parts: the electron, nucleus, proton, and neutron. Fascinating!

Thermal Expansion: Why are gaps left between railroad tracks?
- Here is an exemplary video that provides information about thermal expansion and ultimately answers the following question: why are small gaps left in between rails? This is very similar to what we talked about in class. Outstanding video!
