Teaching
One aspect of being a teacher is being able to design complete lesson plans. This is not something I had thought much about before coming to Concordia and starting the teacher education program. I learned during my education classes how important it is to think of all the different aspects of a lesson and use backwards design to create appropriate assessments. Below you will find a link to the lesson plan I created for preschool science. This lesson is teaching students how to tell whether objects in their world are living or non-living. Along with this is a narration of how I see this lesson playing out in my classroom someday.
Alive or Not Alive Lesson Plan
The following link will take you to a differentiated lesson plan that I created for my EDUC 424 class. I believe that differentiation is an essential component of any classroom, and many lessons that I have created include this component.
Nikodym-Tiered Activity and Lesson Plan Assignment
This final link is a draft of my Final Capstone Lesson Plan. This plan is for a week long 90 minute reading block, and was created with a class that I teacher aided for in mind. On this lesson plan you will find a variety of things that I have been consciously working to include: things highlighted in blue represent goals that I had set for myself throughout the semester, items highlighted in orange represent classroom management strategies, and words highlighted in purple represent student engagement strategies. After December of 2019 this will be updated to reflect the final project.
