These are the ABC’s of my philosophy! Feel free to view them in a info-graphic linked HERE.
A) ACADEMIC
I believe that the goal of education is personal student growth. This should be by providing realistic and attainable goals based off of individualized student data through differentiation.
Curriculum should give students an opportunity to find success and at the same time delivering a strict self-responsibility system. This aids students in developing self-motivation.
B) BEHAVIOR
The behavior expectations will be centered around positive reinforcement. Students are acknowledged when they follow the three classroom rules: Respectful, Responsible & Safe. The teacher will work with students to guide them in these expectations and demonstrate a personal relationship with EACH student.
The idea of student led exploration of education also requires that students are responsive to teacher prompting through the use of hand gestures, call-backs, and images.
C) COMMUNITY
I believe that students deserve the right to a safe learning environment. This philosophy allows for students to prosper emotionally and socially while also benefiting them academically.
I believe that the classroom benefits from the investment of community in the classroom including parents, faculty and staff, and outside community members. Acknowledging the role of these members and involving them in the classroom helps create a holistic support system for all students.
