Leading

In order to teach effectively, a teacher needs to be the leader in the classroom. This is through their classroom management. My belief is that this is done by incorporating a combination of student interest, socio-emotional skills and curriculum.

In order to demonstrate this, I have attached an example of the first 3 days of school schedule that I would use in my classroom. It combines purposeful relationship building, procedure, and content. This was designed for a second grade classroom.

Example Schedule First 3 Days of School

Below are some of the resources that I have created that I would use to talk about my philosophies of teaching to parents in my classroom.

The first is a welcome letter that talks about some of my ideas and expectations in the classroom. The second is an in-depth focus article on my discipline policy. The third is a handout that I would give to parents after a week of school to explain some of my ideas after having experienced them. The final is a calendar I created of activities that parents can do with their children that I would handout month by month.

3. Parent Handout 4. Parent Involvement Calendar

Technology in the Classroom

  • Weebly – This is a website link to my “Digital Toolbox.” It is a collection of digital tools and links that I can use in my classroom. It highlights the ways that I have explored the application of technology to support my students’ learning.
